Day 7. Today’s prompt was to write a ‘simmer down’ poem. I’m feeling quite drained and have a rather irritating splitting headache today so I’m not sure on this one, but hopefully people can relate to it – sometimes you just need to stop and yes, simmer down. Another poem where I should probably follow my own advice, I suspect 😛 Enjoy…
The Restless Cauldron
Life’s too short, you know,
To let all these bothers bubble up
And spill over the boiling pot.
It teeters on the erupting cooker
That we call ‘existence’
Which could blow at any second.
There’s only one way
For any of us to get out alive
And to not get burned
By frustration’s wicked fire.
We can force ourselves out
Of this stifling, choking oven.
Stop throwing more stress
Into this melancholic broth
And let it simmer down
Before your mind implodes.
To stop even just for a second
Will foil the dreaded boiling point.
