Today’s prompt was to write a ‘strange’ poem. Now personally I think most of my poems end up being a little strange! But while I was out for a walk and pondering this prompt, this is what began to come to me….enjoy…
Through Creative Eyes
A strange man wanders the streets,
Taking mental notes on all he sees
And all of the people he meets
While listening for stories in the breeze.
People throw him confused looks
As he sits on benches, muttering away
With his head buried in notebooks.
‘He’s an odd duck’, they’ll say.
But he is simply a hopeless romantic
Who finds sparks of inspiration
In a world so frightfully frantic
That will fuel his prized fiction.
That is why he observes the mundane
With an excitable child’s eyes,
It’s how a writer keeps himself sane
And how the words ultimately materialise.
