Day 22’s prompt: ‘Write a Star (blank) poem’
On a cold lonely night
It is a warming sight
To see specks of white,
A cluster of fiery eyes
Staring back at us
While we sit in wonder
And eternally ponder
What else lies out there.
To point and count them
And grant each a name
Is a small comfort to us
In a vast uncertain sky.
Last year’s prompt for Day 22: Write a nature poem.
Whispers of Wind and Water
After all the madness of modernity
We step wistfully into the world
That the wind and water have made.
A sanctuary free from stomping men
Here only a few slender feet slide
As a bird glides on a river’s edge.
In the forest, the only true titans
Are the trees, who grasp it all
Like arms and legs of fallen giants.
The birds whistle to wind’s tune
In the chorus of woodland calm,
Far from the maddening drone.
Trickles of water whisper away,
Sharing secrets with the flowers
And the creatures in its compass.
This world is one of freedom,
Where no burdens bloom,
Only beauty and tranquillity.
That is the wonderful world
That the wind and water made.
