Day 27’s prompt: Write a ‘take off’ poem

The Eternal Travellers

They can’t sit still
Unwilling to be buckled
To the same old body
That trudges on through
The weight of each day.
They long to leap out
Of themselves, turn light
And take the last flight
To a strange, alluring land,
Where their name is lost
And all its duties dissolved.
There they are merely mist
That pass through unseen
And answer to no man.
But only the brave can find
The will to leave it all behind.
