Weds poetry prompt: ‘Smeared Words’

Today’s prompt: Write a ‘Napkin’ poem

Smeared Words

A hurried hello
Or hasty goodbye
Scrawled on tissue
Wet and torn,
Its words faint
Among the stains.

It means little,
A tepid message
More out of must
Than a deep want,
This is what became
Of a once open line.

So wipe your mouth
And wash your hands of it,
To move on to a clean sheet.
