‘The World Builders’

The World Builders

We used to craft whole worlds
From coloured crepe paper,
And forge a dragon’s fire
From glue and fuzzy felt.

We’d cut and shape continents
With shaking safety scissors
Trembling from the thrill
Of building our angelic utopia.

We weren’t armed with much
Our weapons but glue sticks,
And crayons of all spectrum,
We used to create, not destroy

But imagination’s intense flame
Burns brighter than the blast
From any cannon or rifle,
Yet sadly flickers away in age.
