Weds poetry prompt: Are We ‘There’ Yet?

endless road

Today’s prompt: Write an ‘Are We There Yet?’ poem.

Are We ‘There’ Yet?

It’s a tireless journey
On a never-ending road
To a place with no sign
And no clear short-cuts;
The mystical, fabled ‘There’
That so many speak of
And hope one day to find
But rarely make it to alive.

The place where all makes sense,
Where it’ll all be okay,
And there are no road blocks
Either real or imaginary
To stop dreams in their tracks
And send you off course
To the dreaded ‘Nowhere’,
That’s just one long dead end.

So stay on the right road,
With foot firmly on pedal,
Not stopping for trivial detours
That take miles and years alike.
