Weds poetry prompt: ‘Nothing Important’

zip-mouth

Yesterday’s prompt: Write a ‘nothing important’ poem.

Nothing Important

It’s not important, we say
With a tortured smile
That instantly diminishes
What means the most to us.

In the path to please others
We then punish ourselves
By hiding our own desires
In the deepest darkest corners.

A days plans then hijacked
Through our damning lie
That’s tragically easier
Then letting the truth out.

If we can’t stand and shout
For passions that stir us so,
Our spines simply become
A mass of wasted bone.
