Weds poetry prompt: ‘Can You Spare the Distance?’

Yesterdays’s prompt: Write a ‘distance’ poem

Can You Spare the Distance?

A vast stretch of space,
A piece of previous time,
The spans of which equal to
The energy we deposit into
Our socialising bank.
Distance has become the currency
Which we are wary to spend,
As it is effort and time combined
Which can be saved quite simply
By staying slumped in one spot.
