Today’s prompt: Write an ‘phobia’ poem.
(the fear of saying what you think)
My thoughts cry to come out
Of my ever-fearing mouth
But instead remain trapped
Behind the barrier of self-doubt.
The ones that could silence fools
Or set tampered records straight,
Battling to land on my tongue,
They sadly remain unsaid
And continue to translate
As simpering, resigned “yes’s”
