Today’s prompt: ‘Write a poem about something that happens regularly. Could be something that happens daily, weekly, monthly, every full moon’.
I start the standard morning ritual
Of sighing and repeatedly adjusting
The impulsive shower temperature
Until it sits somewhere between
Ridiculously scalding hot
And stupidly freezing cold.
Once safe I then step in
And reach for that bubbly broth –
Bearing the words ‘Feel Awake’
Loudly proclaimed on the label,
But instead I remain bleary-eyed
Longing to return to my lovely bed.
