2016 Nov PAD Chapbook Challenge Day 15 – ‘To Live Among the Leaves’

Today’s prompt: Write a natural and/or unnatural poem (I combined the two in a sense, though it leans in favour of the former!)

To Live Among the Leaves

I’d rather lay in the grass
On a quiet breezy night
And find meaning in the stars
Than lose my mind in city lights.

I long for pathless woods
With no boards or signs
And harsh intrusive words
That force me into straight lines.

I’d sooner get lost in the trees
And live a life unpinned
From urban demands, and fly free
Like the leaves lifted by the wind.

Last year’s poem for Day 15: ‘The Ritual of a Restless Writer’
