Today’s prompt: Pick a popular saying, make it the title of your poem, and then, write your poem.
The More the Merrier?
It is a motto so often said
Time again through cheerful teeth
That more therefore must mean merrier,
But simply stuffing more bodies
Into an otherwise indifferent room
Does not always a merriment make.
The ‘more’ may prove too much
Or even create chaos and strife
In a group firmly set in its ways.
Truthfully this tired phrase is
An adage failing to take into account
The less desirable traits of humanity.
