‘Out in the Open’

Out in the Open

It’s all out in the open now,
What you tried keeping hidden
In cover of darkness and lies,
Now exposed to judging eyes.

You hid in that horrid house
That shame itself had built,
Yet its lord showed none
Rather, pride in all he’d done.

But now the stones have come,
Thrown by the tormented
Who perished in your name,
Back now, to inflict the blame.

The doors lay down, demolished,
Your shelter of sheer treachery
Is now but rubble on the ground,
A building at last betraying you…

The blighted masses break through the gate
And finally deliver you to a deserved fate.
