2017 April PAD Challenge Day 9: ‘So What Now?’ #aprpad

Day 9’s prompt: Take the phrase “So (blank),” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem.

This ended up following similar themes around mental health as yesterday’s prompt, and made me realise that I really should follow my own advice sometimes…hope this speaks to some of you as well! Enjoy…

So What Now?

‘So what now?’
We always ask,
Ignoring the past,
Fixated on the next
Distraction of the day
To while the time away.
Always rushing around
With little to no regard
To simple peace of mind.
So slow down a second,
Stay in that one moment
To truly observe it all
Before making a move
Without careful thought,
For a clear head is better
To tackle future’s fog.

Last year’s poem for Day 9: ‘Hiding Spot’
