Weds poetry prompt: ‘21.02.2014’

This week’s prompt: Write an ‘event’ poem

That first day we met
We made each other smile
With stories of shared disdain
For the others around us,
All in good fun, of course,
We agreed there were a select few
In life that we could tolerate,
But after a few short words
We both could sense
Something stronger between us.

And so we shared more days
Nattering about everything
Serious and silly alike
As I let my daily mask slip
For you, showing the real me
With anxious imperfection and all,
Knowing that it didn’t matter
To you one way or the other,
And that hundreds of days later,
I still live just for seeing you.
