Haven’t posted for a while – however, this is because a lot of the Wednesday prompts have ended up becoming poems I wish to include in my next collection – watch this space…
For today’s prompt, use at least 3 of the following 6 words in your poem:
- colossal
- flat
- husky
- muse
- scheme
- transfer
If you want to go above and beyond, try using all six words.
Naturally, as usual I made it a point to include all six!
‘A Writer Chasing Whispers’
I fear my muse has eluded me;
For the words poured this evening
Are teeming with mediocrity;
So tired with no real meaning.
Gone is the husky voice in my head,
That guided so many narratives,
Now I have plots with no thread
Or stories falling flat and derivative.
Now ideas just float around aimlessly;
Colossal sagas with no plan or scheme
With my sweet influencer now missing
They are as fleeting as forgotten dreams.
How I long for the song and lyre
Of my most cherished inspirer
Who could transfer rhythmic fire
In but one quivering whisper.
