2017 April PAD Challenge Day 16: ‘Writing System’ #aprpad

Writing Tools

Day 16’s Prompt: Take the phrase “(blank) System,” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem.

Writing System

When it comes to writing
My ‘system’ seems to be a simple one;
Step one is to sit at my desk,
Perhaps peruse my playlists
To seek accompanying music
That will awaken my elusive muse,
Step two, is to merely then
See what happens next,
Discover what my pen is secretly plotting,
Or where my rapid shining fingers
Lead my unsuspecting keyboard
(The medium of my craft
Being dependent on the day’s mood, of course)
And will myself to keep going
Until the well of inspiration runs dry,
As after all, whether I write pure gold
Or rambling, unfocused drivel,
I take reassurance in always knowing
That editing can fix everything
With the assistance of this merciless red pen of mine.
